Tired of sharing your Valentine’s Day with hundreds of other couples at a restaurant surrounded by tacky heart balloons, or perhaps the whole V-Day thing simply fills you with dread…
Well this year we’re breaking out from the mould and planning a cosy, relaxing night in with subtle romantic touches and a nod to the ‘hygge’ phenomenon that has taken the UK by storm. Forget staring at expensive menus in crowded restaurants, instead enjoy a hygge Valentine’s night in with your loved one, the girls, your mum, your pet… whoever you like!
Here are our ideas for a Very
Hygge Valentine’s Day
Light the candles, burn the essential oil, fluff up the pillows, put your favourite chunky knit socks on and relax with ‘Dine in for 2 for £10!’ If you haven’t trialled the incredible dine in for two deal supermarket’s offer at this time of year, you are totally missing a trick – not only is it a super money saver, they are very tasty and require little preparation, so there’s more time to enjoy the company you’re in and the ambient surroundings you’ve created.
While others are braving the freezing February weather in restaurant queues, why not take advantage of a precious night in with your loved one or friends and watch and entire series on Netflix, or a film you’ve been meaning to watch for ages. Or cuddle up and read that book you’ve been meaning to make more time for.
Lucky enough to have a fireplace? Light it up, spread a picnic rug or cosy blanket down on the floor in front of it, and lay with delicious charcuterie, artisan cheese and other nibbly bits – now just add a drop of your favourite wine for your perfect hygge Valentine’s Night In.
