This week we shine the spotlight on a very important member of our team, Lauren. Formerly a graphic designer for luxury footwear brand Charlotte Olympia, Lauren has extensive creative prowess in the world of graphic design. As some of us don’t know what a day in the life of a graphic designer entails, we thought it might be beneficial to delve into Lauren’s day to learn more about the lady behind the screen…
What inspired you to become a graphic designer?
My inspiration came from my Father – he’s been a graphic designer for over 40 years inspired me to discover my passion for design and creativity.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is having control over what I design – I will usually be given a brief of what is needed but love it when I am asked to do what I think! (The project I’m working on at the moment focuses on the magazine and has been really enjoyable so far, as I can be very creative). I also enjoy the variety of working across the whole Marketing and Communication team on an array of different projects.
Explain a typical week in the (working) life of a graphic designer
A typical week for a graphic designer at Jacques Vert Group consists of designing and developing in-store POS, seasonal lookbooks for press purposes, artwork for campaigns (signage, imagery etc) anything in-house, such as presentations, brand developments (garment tags and promotional signage) and special HR projects to promote the brand (Style Magazine). So I have quite a diverse variety of projects to work on throughout my week!
What would be your plan B?
If I didn’t fall into graphic design the way I did… (when I worked at Charlotte Olympia I realised fashion and graphic design really inspired me), I would likely still have a job within the creative industry. Possibly more towards fine art as I have always had a passion for drawing and painting – when I’m inspired I can easily switch my mind off, plug my music in and just draw… Alternatively – I would have loved to be a vet, as I love all animals!
Tell us what inspires you in three words
Can I have four?! Creativity, success, art and fashion.
Describe your style
Contemporary, easy-to-wear and shaped to flatter my figure. I am also a big fan of monochrome!

Here are the Henley Festival girls in their dresses…
“I absolutely love the Lorcan Mullany for Jacques Vert dress and have never had so many compliments in my life! Even from Lionel!”
Jo Bausor, Marketing Director at Henley Festival
The team at Jacques Vert Group also got all dressed up in elegant gowns from Jacques Vert, Lorcan Mullany for Jacques Vert and Kaliko. The team attended with some fashion journalists and bloggers, and had exclusive access to a press tent sponsored by BMW, with canapes from Jason Atherton’s Social Wine and Tapas. Later in the evening, the team enjoyed a live performance from Jessie J. It was a wonderful evening, and the team all looked fabulous in their dresses!
Thank you to Henley Festival, Social Wine and Tapas and BMW for a fabulous evening! The Jacques Vert Group team are looking forward to next year already.
This year our range of Elegant British Brands was represented not once, not twice, not three times but a whopping four times at the BritMums Live blogging event. For all of you that don’t already know, BritMums Live is a two day blogger conference based in London and is a chance for over 8000 parent bloggers from around the UK to network, socialise and let their creativity flair with other known bloggers. Our four lovely bloggers that attended decided to wear pieces from Planet, Kaliko, Precis Petite and Lorcan Mullany for Jacques Vert, we had a chat with each of them to see how much fun they had during the event and why they decided to wear what they did…
”Thanks for making me look so elegant for the BritMums in Brilliance awards where I was a finalist in the style category. I didn’t win but you made me feel like a winner in the Lorcan Mullany Navy Frill Cocktail Dress!
I loved meeting Lorcan at your press day last year, it’s quite special to wear a design created by someone you admire greatly.”
We just love Vicki’s look, we think she looks just gorgeous! To read more about Vicki’s time at the BritMums Live event, check out her blog post here.
“I felt on top form in my gorgeous Precis Petite dress on the first day of BritMums Live, which is so important when you’re attending a conference and meeting all your friends and peers.
“The dress is stylish, feminine and pretty, and really helped me to feel professional and at my best. It also took me from the day into night, with ease. (Which is important as there’s never really a spare minute at BritMums Live!) Thank you so much Precis Petite!”
We think Katie looks gorgeous in her Precis Petite dress, check out more about Katie’s time at BritMums Live over on her blog!
”Britmums live is the UK’s biggest event for parenting bloggers. It’s a place for us all to come together socially and learn from one another. We are also lucky to listen to some of the best and most successful bloggers within our industry. For an event of such magnitude it was really important for me to look and feel my best. I was delighted to be dressed by Elegant British Brands in this Planet dress; a beautifully made smart/casual piece that fit perfectly and the gorgeous flower print is right on trend for this season, what’s not to love?!”
Amy looks just fabulous in her Planet dress and we are glad she had she had such a great time at the conference!
”The simplicity of this Kalikodressmeans it is appropriate for nearly any occasion. I’m going to be wearing it to BritMums Live! next month with this statement necklace from Joules, and my Clarks sandals – they are metallic silver with gold studs, which makes them a little bit special (flat shoes at that event are a must!) with a cardi over the top.
I could also see myself wearing the dress to a wedding or garden party – this purple shrug (from Jacques Vert, which I already had in my wardrobe) helps set off the dress perfectly and turns it in to a very elegant outfit.”
We love this colour on Leigh and think how she has styled this outfit is great! Read more about Leigh’s BritMums Live outfit over on her blog.
With spring in full swing and summer a stone’s throw away, our wardrobes are crying out for a burst of colour. To start the transition, we would recommend getting your seasonal suitcase out (if you haven’t already) and start packing away your autumnal shades of grey, replacing them with fresh shades of true blues instead.
Blue has been a popular and refreshing colour trend on the catwalk this season and one we are more than happy to embrace. What is your favourite shade of true blue?
Be inspired by the sea with our selection of refreshing shades of aquamarine. A variety of these fresh shades are offered in our Spring/Summer 2015 collections and will be the perfect pieces to add to your holiday suitcase. We would also recommend pairing aquamarine separates with neutral shades to really let the colour pop.
Light powder blues are showcased throughout key pieces of our Spring/Summer 2015 collections. Keep cool with these relaxed shades of soft blues which will complement any skin tone and is an on-trend colour for the season.

Ahoy there! Here at Style Inspiration HQ we’re loving the nautical themes from our Elegant British Brands Spring/Summer 2015 collections. Stripes are a timeless wardrobe staple. Ever since the French navy uniform introduced the look in the 1850s, which inspired Coco Chanel’s 1917 nautical collection, stripes have been a fashion favourite. Now the Breton striped top is a wardrobe essential across the globe.
We have chosen our favourite pieces from the Spring/Summer 2015 collections across our Elegant British Brands, which give a nod to the classic stripe with an updated and modern twist…
The classic Breton stripe has been given a Spring/Summer 2015 update on dresses and cover-ups. Bring your look into the new season with our striped dresses and cover-ups from Planet, Dash and Colebrooke by Windsmoor.
This season, Eastex updates the classic nautical stripe in beautiful watercolour designs and fresh seasonal shades. Tops are given a summery, relaxed feel, perfect for pairing with jeans, chinos or a linen skirt.
